Setting Limits To Maximize Creativity

Photography, Information

I want to share a simple method I use to get creative.

When I am feeling uninspired or I am having difficulty thinking of a concept for a photoshoot: I limit my options. This challenges myself to think outside of the box. The following photoshoots are from a challenge to use my 20mm lens during a portrait session. I normally use this lens for street photos while traveling very light. Using a very wide lens means that there will be distortion and in my case a lot of vignetting on the edges, however - I can say that I enjoyed creating with these two models.

HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF LIMITS TO SET:

TIME: TAKE PHOTOS FOR 1 HOUR / 10 MINUTES / 1 MINUTE (IF YOU DARE)

EQUIPMENT: USE 1 KIND OF LENS / USE NATURAL LIGHT AVAILABLE / USE A PHONE CAMERA

CONCEPT: PHOTOGRAPH AT NIGHT / PHOTOGRAPH THINGS OF A CERTAIN COLOR / PHOTOGRAPH MOVEMENT
